The SLR® System is a cutting-edge structural lantern ring system that is non-collapsible in service, unlike typical Teflon lantern rings. It’s patented design is up to 5X stronger than ordinary PTFE lantern rings and allows for improved flow and pressure equalization.
A paper plant needed a better lantern ring solution for an OCC repulper with an exceptionally large 27-inch diameter shaft, where conventional options are limited. The existing one-piece PTFE lantern ring was difficult to maneuver around the massive shaft and return to its proper shape for installation. Based on successful performance in other plant applications, the customer upgraded to SealRyt’s SLR® (Structural Lantern Ring). The SLR® provides a more structurally stable design, is easier to install at large diameters, and allows more flush water to reach the shaft surface—helping create a better pressure seal while reducing the likelihood of plugging. Its durable construction also allows the SLR® to be removed, cleaned, and reused, providing a practical long-term solution for an unusually large and demanding application.
