Braided Packing
Style #500
Maximum values-temperature, PH and speed-should not be combined on any one application without careful consultation. Common sense balancing of factors is always wise. As with any product designed to operate in critical operations, this product and its installation must be clearly understood. In addition, the user should have full knowledge of the operating considerations of the equipment in which it is to be installed. |
Construction
Made entirely from a "silky" C grade, chemical resistant fiberglass with a full yarn and final stage impregnation of PTFE dispersion, interbraided for structural strength. Characteristics Style 500 is at its optimum use in acids such as acetic, hydrochloric, sulfuric, nitric etc. this packing is also an outstanding general-purpose packing as the silk yarn has a very high tensile strength and retains its properties beyond 900°F. Substantial use over time on rotary shafts has shown that style 500 polishes surfaces rather than abrades them due to the soft, heat conductive nature of the filament used.
